THEN, the best part….hanging out on the Twitters, some folks  (@ParisPink3 @ChampagneDiet @LilyOfOpulence) were discussing vintage glam bouquets with pearls and feathers…..*poof*

That sound you just heard? Yeah, my brain exploding with brilliant ideas for bouquets and such.  *swoons with joy*

It’s a gorgeous wool (made in USA) Victorian Caroler style (get it, Carol, Caroler! Hee!) top hat with a vintage wedding tiara that I took apart and reworked with feathers, rhinestones and a beautiful pavé crystal butterfly shoe clip from the 1950s.

The tiara comes off the hat and can be worn like a fascinator headband or a corona-style tiara.

This was fun to make. Kudos to Carol for coming up with the brilliant combination of tiara/top hat.  Very elegant!

SO warm!  I’ve added a removable wabbit fur pin (sorry bunny!) with a couple of vintage buttons centered.

Not sure in which trippy forest Mr. Fudd found a black and red plaid wabbit but you should have heard me squee when I realized how cool it looks on the buffalo plaid!

But here’s the good news:  along with 300 or so fugly dresses, I got a dozen wedding gowns with lots of beading AND a huge pile of bridal chapeaux, headpieces, tiaras and such! They seemed to be of an earlier vintage as well so I was REALLY happy. Here’s some photos.

This is the first stash I discovered (in the DOZENS of contractor bags FULL of dresses, so heavy I could not lift them!)

Kind of overwhelming, yes? Yes.  So I put an ad on Freecycle and started giving them away!  I also sold some and gave a lot to little girls at the Farmer’s Market the week before Halloween:

You can imagine how thrilled they were!

The gold filigree adornment is a signed Musi shoe clip from the 1960s, a collector’s dream, if there were two of them. Luckily it works beautifully as a spray for this elegant hat; I’ve added feathers to give it a bit of motion and to complement the lush texture of the fur.

There is a tag inside that says Miss Bierner; I am guessing this hat is from the fifties or perhaps early sixties. It is in excellent vintage condition.

The ribbon and flower pin come off and you can wear it just plain; here it is with out the spray.

Here’s a closeup of the pretty felt flower spray; the pearly stamens are vintage (circa 1940) from a millinery shop in NYC and the back of the spray has both a pin and an alligator clip so you could put it on a coat or purse or gift.  Charming!
