Kinda makes me wanna get married again….I love weddings!

Thing 1, on the left, features hand-dyed feathers and ribbons as well as a a flame-like extension that extends above the head about six or seven inches. It is mounted on an alligator clip that fastens to your hair securely. The veil covers the whole face for a mysterious and striking appearance.

Thing 2, on the right, boasts black handmade roses as well as curly black biot and eyelash feathers bursting from the center of a large rosebud.  The fabric creates another flower-like layer atop a double headband of black satin and the veil has a distinct diagonal slant for even more drama.

There are handmade berries and ostrich feathers and an Edwardian cufflink.

There are petals made from lace, pearls, nettting; pearl sprays and leaves; crystal flowers and some gorgeous flowers made of lace with pearl stamens; pearl sprays, sequined leaves, and o my goodness I can’t even begin to tell you how many other gorgeous things!  Look:

THEN, the best part….hanging out on the Twitters, some folks  (@ParisPink3 @ChampagneDiet @LilyOfOpulence) were discussing vintage glam bouquets with pearls and feathers…..*poof*

That sound you just heard? Yeah, my brain exploding with brilliant ideas for bouquets and such.  *swoons with joy*

It’s a gorgeous wool (made in USA) Victorian Caroler style (get it, Carol, Caroler! Hee!) top hat with a vintage wedding tiara that I took apart and reworked with feathers, rhinestones and a beautiful pavé crystal butterfly shoe clip from the 1950s.

The tiara comes off the hat and can be worn like a fascinator headband or a corona-style tiara.

This was fun to make. Kudos to Carol for coming up with the brilliant combination of tiara/top hat.  Very elegant!

Flaps up. Cute, huh? Kind of a cadet cap look.

SO warm!  I’ve added a removable wabbit fur pin (sorry bunny!) with a couple of vintage buttons centered.

Not sure in which trippy forest Mr. Fudd found a black and red plaid wabbit but you should have heard me squee when I realized how cool it looks on the buffalo plaid!

But here’s the good news:  along with 300 or so fugly dresses, I got a dozen wedding gowns with lots of beading AND a huge pile of bridal chapeaux, headpieces, tiaras and such! They seemed to be of an earlier vintage as well so I was REALLY happy. Here’s some photos.

This is the first stash I discovered (in the DOZENS of contractor bags FULL of dresses, so heavy I could not lift them!)

Here’s the second stash. TONS of goodies here!  Hundreds of veils and some really really unattractive hats but lots of potential.

Kind of overwhelming, yes? Yes.  So I put an ad on Freecycle and started giving them away!  I also sold some and gave a lot to little girls at the Farmer’s Market the week before Halloween:

You can imagine how thrilled they were!

So cute!

I felt like a Very Good Witch that day.

More later about the eventual fate of the pretties and the hundreds of bows I cut off….WOOT!

I added a festive silver and glittery purple ribbon and floral spray, both of which could come off if you want a more understated look.
